Sally Perel hat das alles wirklich erlebt, fünf Jahre lang. Er hat es überlebt und viel später darüber geschrieben. Das Buch war ein Erfolg, es wurde sogar verfilmt. Die Kassette ist anders. Perel liest nicht vor, er erzählt einfach. Einmal hört man einen Muezzin rufen in der Nachbarschaft, die Aufnahme entstand in Israel, Mitte der achtziger Jahre. Perel, Jahrgang 1925, wächst in seiner Geburtsstadt Peine auf. Die Kindheit ist zu Ende, als die Nazis kommen. Die Familie weicht Richtung Osten aus. Als ihn die Front 1941 überollt, sagt der 15-Jährige, er wäre Deutscher. Man glaubt ihm, schickt ihn ins Reich und steckt ihn in ein Lehrlingsheim der Hitlerjugend. 1945 wird er zum Volkssturm eingezogen und gerät in amerikanische Gefangenschaft. Sein Deutsch ist nach einem halben Jahrhundert nicht mehr das Deutsch seiner Kinderjahre und auch nicht das Deutsch des Hitlerjungen, der sogar Vorträge halten mußte über Nationalsozialismus. Aber es ist eine Stimme, der man gebannt lauscht. Aus aller Zeit scheint sie gefallen, von fern her erreicht sie uns, um von einem Alptraum zu berichten, der mit uns zu tun hat.
